Junior High

"Crossroads High School was founded in 2010 by Andrea Horst as the realization
of a long-standing passion. As she taught her own children, she developed a desire to bring the rich classical education they
were receiving to other families as well.
She shared her dreams with a few trusted friends who encouraged her to make her dream
a reality. In 2010, Matt and Joy Kauffman purchased the former bank building in Tiskilwa, Illinois, and made
it available to start the school.
Early on Beth Jones caught the vision and partnered with Horst in planning,
praying and preparing for the new school. Soon others joined in to provide expertise in legal, curricular and business areas.
It all came together for the 2010-2011 school year. Thirteen high school students from
all over Bureau County completed the first year.
In
2013 Horst and Jones attended a conference hosted by Memoria Press, the Highlands Latin
School in Louisville, KY, and the Classical Latin School Association (CLSA). At this conference they became aware that Crossroads is not as unique
as they thought after all. Small, medium, and large classical schools which meet fewer than 5 days per week are forming all
over the United States and are very successful. Crossroads joined the CLSA in 2013 and became accredited by them in 2015.
In the fall of 2015 Dr. Jeffery Patrick joined the faculty to head the start up of a junior high for
7th and 8th grade students and to develop the music program at Crossroads."
